ITINERARY 3 DAYS
DAY 01
WELCOME TO ZIMBABWEOn arrival at the Victoria Falls airport, you will be met by a Batoka Safaris representative and transferred to the Rainbow Hotel where an escort will assist with check in.
Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel
This oriental-style hotel with its unique character has 88 air-conditioned rooms. The hotel was recently renovated with 40 stunning rooms being added to its portfolio. Rainbow Hotel is situated within walking distance from all the facilities in Victoria Falls with the Mighty Victoria Falls only 2 km away. Conference facilities are also available at the hotel. The lovely swim and sip bar will keep you cool. The hotel offers a unique panorama platform for viewing the surrounding areas.
15h30-16h00 Pickup for the Sunset cruise
In the afternoon, we’ll take you on a Sundowner Cruise along the Zambezi River. There is no better way to end the day than to watch the African Sun slip down beneath the horizon, while sipping drinks and enjoying light snacks. Birds, hippos and crocodiles abound in their natural habitat.
19h00 Boma dinner
Partially open to the African skies and sheltered by the indigenous Gusu forest lies the award-winning Boma restaurant. This offers a unique African experience that bombards the senses with the tastes, sights, sounds and smells of Africa – together with the warmth and hospitality of Zimbabwe and its people. Specializing in a superb selection of traditional Zimbabwean dishes, fish, a variety of game meat and potjiekos (hunter’s stew) – as well as vegetarian meals – diners are invited to sample such ethnic delicacies as deep fried kapenta, famous mopani worms, and groundnuts.
Traditional customs such as local beer tasting and pre-dinner hand washing are observed, and Ndebele performers will captivate diners with their vibrant and energetic songs and dances.
Steeped in mystery, a witchdoctor adds a touch of drama and after dinner guests are invited to while away the evening with the restaurant’s sangoma – a traditional storyteller – to learn more about the country’s folklore, culture and heritage.
Day 02
CHOBE DAY TRIPThe Caprivi Strip, just 70kms west of Victoria Falls, is a very interesting area.
Not only does the Zambezi River form the borders of 4 countries here (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia) but this is also the location of one of Africa’s finest natural game reserves – the Chobe National Park. The added presence of the equally intriguing Chobe River (in one season the water flows downstream and in the other it flows upstream) brings a myriad of game and rare bird species to this natural wilderness.
The Park boasts the Big Five and the river teems with hippos and crocodiles which can be viewed both from boats and safari vehicles. It is to this “animal paradise” that participants will be taken after an early breakfast at the hotel. After an hour’s drive through the Zambezi National Park, quick border formalities are carried out into Botswana before proceeding into the national park. Chobe River cruises and Game drives have to be one of the finest game viewing experiences in Africa. With over 80 000 elephant in the park alone they are a very frequent sighting. Hippo, water birds, buffalo, crocodile and puku are also viewed from the river. Lunch is served at Chobe Safari Lodge.
Day 03
GUIDED TOUR OF THE FALLSAfter an early start, our first stop will be at the “Big Tree”, an ancient Baobab some 16 meters in girth. The tour proper will kick off with an explanation of the geology of the Victoria Falls. We’ll then take you on an extensive tour, from Livingstone View to the Devil’s Cataract, on to the Main Falls, past the Rainbow Falls and finally to Danger Point.
Transfer to Victoria Falls Airport
After a two-day whirlwind of game viewing and viewing Victoria Falls, we’ll transfer you back to Victoria Falls Airport for your home-bound flight and wave a fond goodbye.
